FAW Hongqi has officially launched the new Hongqi HS5, boasting an upgraded interior design, advanced lighting, and the latest smart cockpit and driving assistance systems. The refreshed SUV starts at a competitive price of 134,800 yuan.
New Hongqi HS5 Unveiled with Advanced Technology and Design
The updated Hongqi HS5 features a distinct Chinese design aesthetic, highlighted by new ‘Dragon in the World’ headlights and daytime running lights, complemented by ‘Arrow Feather Shining’ taillights. Buyers can choose from new wheel designs and a palette of four exterior colors: ‘Cangye Shanhai’, ‘Buguang Jin’, ‘Gaoshan Yingbai’, and ‘Meiye Hei (2nd Gen)’. Interior options include ‘Shiliu Hong’, ‘Nuansha Mi’, and ‘Shimo Hei’.
Intelligent Cockpit and Driving Assistance
Inside, the new HS5 is equipped with the Lingxi Smart Cabin 5.0 system, powered by a Qualcomm 8155P 7nm chip. This system supports the Doubao AI voice large model and over 20 custom ‘Qimiao’ scenarios. It offers seamless smartphone integration, 50W wireless charging, Bluetooth keys, and remote vehicle control.
The Hongqi Sinan intelligent driving system enhances safety and convenience with features like surround-view cameras, parking pilot assistance, remote parking, memory parking, and track back assistance. On the road, it provides high-speed and highway navigation assistance, intelligent speed adjustment, obstacle avoidance, and pedestrian safety features.
Enhanced Comfort and Performance
The new Hongqi HS5 measures 4785×1905×1700mm with a 2870mm wheelbase, offering a spacious cabin. The ‘Yunshu’ wide seats are designed for comfort and breathability, with the driver’s seat offering 12-way power adjustment. Rear seats recline, and both front and rear seats come standard with heating. Front seats also feature ventilation.
Cargo space is generous at 476L, expandable to 1821L, with 28 storage compartments throughout the cabin. The infotainment system features a 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition screen with 1000 nits brightness and a 0.25s response time. A 30-inch AR-HUD with dynamic navigation and a premium suede headliner add to the luxurious feel. The audio system is provided by Dynaudio, featuring 12 speakers with Evoke-level sound reproduction technology.
Powertrain and Safety Features
Under the hood, the new HS5 is powered by a 2.0T high-output all-aluminum engine delivering 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and achieving a thermal efficiency of 39%. It is paired with an Aisin 8AT gearbox known for its quick, smooth shifts and reliability. The all-aluminum chassis uses aerospace-grade aluminum for a 30% weight reduction. A new column shifter allows for quick, hand-on-wheel gear changes.
The body structure utilizes Baosteel 2000MPa hot-formed steel, with over 60% high-strength steel content, and has undergone 5 million kilometers of durability testing. Advanced safety features include Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), panoramic imaging with a transparent chassis, and Hill Descent Control.
