The newly unveiled Yi Jing X9 flagship SUV, with a pre-sale price range of 299,800 to 379,800 yuan, is packed with Huawei’s advanced technology, including the Kunlun intelligent driving system and HarmonyOS cockpit.

Yi Jing Automobile Brand General Manager, Zeng Qinglin, explained the strategic pricing of the X9. He revealed that the vehicle’s hardware, chassis, and safety features are designed to meet the standards of 500,000 yuan-class flagships. Selling above 400,000 yuan would have been a more straightforward commercial decision.

“However, in the current market environment, high-end technology should not be a privilege for the few,” Zeng stated.

Zeng outlined two common strategies for building flagship vehicles today: either by accumulating luxury interiors and entertainment screens to push prices above 450,000-500,000 yuan, or by focusing on being “good but not expensive,” sacrificing top-tier hardware for cost-effectiveness.

Yi Jing X9, on the other hand, aims for an “extreme yet not expensive” approach. The company’s vision is to enable more ordinary families to experience flagship-level software and hardware. Therefore, instead of focusing on premium features like rapid acceleration or multiple rear-seat screens, the cost has been concentrated on high-frequency needs for families, such as space, safety, intelligent driving, and chassis performance.

“We can offer the product capability of a 500,000 yuan vehicle but choose to price it in the 300,000 yuan range. This is Yi Jing’s understanding of ‘extreme yet not expensive,'” Zeng added.

He concluded by emphasizing the long-term commitment to vehicle delivery and quality, stating that grand product ideals must ultimately translate into tangible value for every car sold.
