Google’s Pixel Watch 4 is rumored to be able to charge on its side instead of its back, according to leaked official renders of the watch published by Android Headlines. The watch may also get an approximate 25 percent improvement in charging speed compared to the Pixel Watch 3.
Without the charging contacts on the back, the Pixel Watch 4 will now have a “new set of sensors,” according to Android Headlines. This change could also make the Pixel Watch 4 more repairable; in the case of previous Pixel Watch models, Google offered replacements but not repairs.
With the watch lying on its side, it seems that the new charging system may be more convenient for places like a nightstand where the watch can be awkward when it’s lying horizontally.
Google is organizing a product launch event on August 20, and Android Headlines reports that the company plans to announce the Pixel Watch 4 in 41mm and 45mm sizes at the event. The company is also expected to announce the Pixel 10 lineup at the event, and it seems that it has already leaked information about this lineup.
