Threads may allow you to add music to messages

Threads is developing an internal prototype of the ability to add music to posts, the company confirmed to TechCrunch. The ability to add music to posts is already available in other social apps such as Meta, Instagram, and Facebook. It seems that the company is now thinking about bringing this feature to Threads, its competitor X.

This feature is not yet being tested publicly and was first spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who often finds unreleased features while they are still in development.

The ability to add music to posts could be a welcome addition for people who want to add a little more color to their posts and showcase their musical taste, as it would be somewhat reminiscent of the Myspace era. However, not everyone is likely to be a fan of posts with music because they can be distracting.

As with any other internal prototype, it is unknown if and when Meta plans to launch this feature.

Last week, TechCrunch reported that Threads is also developing an internal prototype of the ability to set a name to display and add a cover image to a profile. The new features will bring Threads’ user experience closer to its competitors, including X and Bluesky.
