As of November 6, 2009 the Ukrainian State Center of Radio Frequencies (USCRF) has created the generalized database of ІМЕІ codes accounting 79, 475 million phones.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian mobile carriers are required to connect to their networks and provide telecommunications services only for the terminals with officially state registered IMEI codes.
By its special decision No.1339 of February 5, 2009 the National Commission for Communications Regulation (NCCR) has banned the sale of mobile phones with unregistered IMEI codes. All mobile phones that were in use before September 1, 2009, entered into the USCRF database automatically.
